Basic Information

Overview

ZAHN is a collaborative effort between Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago, Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, Animal Care (APHIS AC), developed due to the growing list of diseases that could pose a threat to the managed wildlife community. ZAHN projects focus on surveillance and preparedness for infectious diseases such as avian influenza, yet they are expandable for other diseases of concern.
