Overview

Overview

IRAT is an evaluation tool that measures the potential pandemic risk of influenza A viruses that are circulating in animals and occasionally humans but are not yet widespread in humans. Assessments are made on an "emergence" scenario and "public health impact." Each virus is evaluated according to ten scientific criteria. Composite scores are based on the weights of each criteria, and provide a means to rank viruses for potential pandemic spread.
